Meet the Pack Behind Mother Puppers

Our Story

Mother Puppers began with a simple belief: every dog deserves personalized, loving care in a safe, stress-free environment. As a lifelong dog lover and Great Falls local, owner Tammie noticed that many pups were getting lost in the shuffle at large, overcrowded facilities. She wanted to create something different—a place where dogs are treated like family, not just clients. Here, we take the time to know every pup’s personality, quirks, and favorite scratching spot. Founded in 2023, Mother Puppers combines over 15 years of professional pet care experience with a genuine passion for animal welfare.

My Journey with Animals

Animals have been my entire world for as long as I can remember. I started working with pets professionally at just 14, gaining experience in grooming, pet retail, boarding, and veterinary clinics. But honestly? My love for animals started way before that. Growing up, I had just about every pet you can imagine—dogs, cats, turtles, lizards, frogs, scorpions, snakes, chinchillas, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils, birds, fish, and even farm animals like sheep, pigs, ducks, geese, turkeys, and pheasants! I raised pigs and sheep for 4-H and eventually became a leader, teaching other kids the same passion for animal care that shaped my life.

Before opening Mother Puppers in 2023, I worked as a Boarding Supervisor at a local veterinary clinic where I was cross-trained as a veterinary assistant. I’m trained in Pet CPR & First Aid and medication administration, which gives me confidence handling any situation your pet might face. But beyond the credentials, it’s the lifetime of hands-on experience—from bottle-feeding baby animals to caring for seniors—that truly prepared me for this work.

What I Love About Mothe Puppers

What I love most is that I finally get to create the kind of pet care experience I’ve always dreamed of—one that’s personal, compassionate, and truly puts animals first. I knew exactly what I wanted Mother Puppers to be: a place where every dog feels safe, loved, and cared for like they’re my own. I pour my heart into every detail—from keeping the facility spotlessly clean (no “kennel smell” here!) to making sure each pup gets individual attention. Opening Mother Puppers has been a dream come true because I get to combine all my experience with my lifelong passion for animals, and I get to share that with the Great Falls community.

Life Outside the Kennel

I’ve been married over 20 years, and my husband and I have three kids—one living her adult life, one in college in Hawaii (living the dream!), and our youngest working on his high school career. Add four dogs to the mix, and our household is always buzzing! Despite the chaos, we make family time a priority and love creating memories together.

My Journey with Animals

I have a lifelong passion for working with dogs that began in childhood. Growing up in a household with dogs, I developed early hands-on experience through regular pet-sitting services for neighbors in my community. After high school, I rescued my first dog and enjoyed eight wonderful years as his owner, which deepened my understanding of canine care and the human-animal bond. My genuine enthusiasm for working with dogs continues to drive my commitment to providing exceptional pet care services.

What I Love About Mother Puppers

Building meaningful relationships with both our canine clients and their owners is what I find most rewarding about my role at Mother Puppers. Getting to know each dog’s unique personality and understanding their owners’ specific care preferences allows me to provide personalized, attentive service that strengthens the trust our clients place in us.

Life Outside the Kennel

When I’m not caring for our four-legged clients, you’ll find me cheering on my favorite football team or exploring the great outdoors. Whether it’s hiking, camping, or simply enjoying nature, I love any activity that combines fresh air with quality time—especially if dogs are involved!

My Journey with Animals

I was fortunate to grow up in a home where my mother’s passion for dogs created a lively household—we always had at least four dogs at any given time. This upbringing instilled in me a deep love and respect for animals from an early age. My mother’s dedication to caring for multiple dogs taught me invaluable lessons about patience, responsibility, and the joy that comes from working with animals. Pursuing a career in pet care has always been a dream of mine, and I’m grateful to now be living that dream every day.

What I Love About Mother Puppers

What I find most rewarding is witnessing the enthusiastic tail wags and discovering the unique personalities that each dog brings to our care. Every canine client has their own quirks, energy levels, and charm—from the exuberant greeters to the gentle observers. Getting to experience this wonderful diversity of personalities day after day never gets old, and it reminds me why I’m so passionate about what I do.

Life Outside the Kennel

I’m the proud owner of an 11-year-old pittie named Doodle, affectionately known as my “house hippo.” Doodle has been my loyal companion for over a decade and continues to teach me something new about the bond between humans and dogs every single day. His gentle nature and playful spirit remind me why I’m so passionate about providing exceptional care to every dog I work with.

My Journey with Animals

I’ve been passionate about animals my entire life, caring for a diverse range of pets including rats, dogs, birds, and many others. My professional experience includes several years working at a veterinary clinic, where I gained valuable hands-on knowledge of animal health and behavior. I’ve been a proud member of the Mother Puppers team for several years now, and at home, I have two beloved pets of my own—a dog and a cat who has fully embraced his canine side!

What I Love About Mother Puppers

What I love most about Mother Puppers is being part of a close-knit team within a locally-owned business. This environment allows me to build meaningful relationships with both our wonderful clients and their pets. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is watching each dog’s unique personality emerge as they become comfortable with me. Their playful, joyful spirits and sweet temperaments make every day special.

Life Outside the Kennel

My favorite animal is the hippo! When I’m not caring for pets at Mother Puppers, you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors—kayaking and hiking with my dog. And yes, my adventurous cat joins us on these excursions too!

My Journey with Animals

Growing up in a dog-loving family, I’ve spent years caring for pets at every stage of life. I’m experienced in daily care, behavior, and building strong bonds with the animals I work with. One of my favorite memories at Mother Puppers was meeting Sadie Sue in 2023—her loving, people-oriented personality is exactly why I love what I do!

What I Love About Mother Puppers

I love that our owner is so dedicated to excellence in everything we do. She invests countless hours ensuring every detail is perfect—from the care we provide to the experience our clients have. The facility is always immaculately clean and fresh, which speaks volumes about our commitment to quality. It’s inspiring to work somewhere that truly prioritizes both the dogs and their families, and I’m proud to be part of a team that sets such high standards for pet care.

Life Outside the Kennel

My dogs are my shadow crew! They insist on sleeping with me every night, and when I’m away, they’re completely lost. The cutest thing? They sprint to the door every time they hear a car door shut, just in case it’s me coming home. That kind of loyalty and love is exactly why I adore working with dogs every day!

My Journey with Animals

I’ve been with Mother Puppers since day one—working here for 2 years since we first opened our doors. At home, I’m a proud pet parent to a cat and three dogs, so I understand firsthand what families look for in quality pet care.

What I Love About Mother Puppers

I love that I get to work alongside my mom every day while doing what I’m passionate about caring for dogs! Whether I’m playing fetch with tennis balls or running around with the hose on a hot day, seeing the pups happy and energetic makes every shift rewarding

Life Outside the Kennel

“My cat’s name is Poe-Tay-Toe (yes, like the potato!), and she’s obsessed with her spring toys. She’ll bat them around the house for hours—it’s her favorite pastime!”

My Journey with Animals

I relocated to Great Falls from Japan in 2003 and have been providing professional grooming services since 2005. With 20 years of hands-on experience, I offer essential grooming services including bathing, brushing, nail trimming, and haircuts that keep dogs clean, comfortable, and healthy. My approach focuses on providing reliable, consistent care that meets the everyday grooming needs of our clients and their pets.

What I Love About Mother Puppers

I truly enjoy the variety that comes with meeting and grooming different dogs every day—no two days are ever the same. I’m fortunate to work alongside a supportive team and leadership that values quality care. What stands out most about Mother Puppers is our commitment to maintaining a clean, safe environment where every animal receives attentive care and supervision. It’s rewarding to be part of a facility that prioritizes the well-being of the pets entrusted to us.

Life Outside the Kennel

I’m a proud dog mom to three Yorkies, each unique in their own way with their own grooming needs. They keep me busy and bring so much joy to my life!

My journey with animals

All started at age 9 in dog 4-H, where I learned to groom my Sheltie and long-haired Shepherd mix over 11 years. In high school, I joined FFA and showed Polled Herefords for 4 years, learning to shave, wash, fluff, and shape them for shows.

After graduation, I apprenticed with a local Cocker Spaniel show breeder, learning pet clips and show grooms in exchange for kennel work. Two years later, I moved to a grooming salon where I mastered breed-specific styles for Schnauzers, terriers, Shih Tzus, Poodles, and Bichons. Over nearly 29 years, I’ve continued learning from every groomer and salon I’ve worked with.

What I love about Mother Puppers

I love the one-on-one time I can spend with each dog. It keeps them—and me—calm and relaxed, creating a stress-free grooming experience that helps the dogs actually enjoy being groomed. After nearly 29 years of grooming, I’ve learned that this approach brings out the best in every pet.

Life outside the Kennel

I enjoy helping my husband with projects around our little hobby farm. We love working on improvements like adding a porch to our small barn for better sunset views over the hills in our back pasture and making the loft more accessible with outside stairs for my husband’s woodworking space.

Other things I love are hiking, camping, and watching the sunrise and sunset. We’ve been married for 26 years and have two wonderful daughters, ages 21 and 12. We each have our own dogs: a 12-year-old mini Dachshund, a 7-year-old Parson Russell Terrier, a 5-year-old Standard Poodle, and a 1-year-old large Sheltie. In our spare time, we’ve started bowling for exercise and to improve our game.
